On December 18th, the fifthsymposium on Confucianism inthe perspective of social scienceswas held in Jinan, Shandong Province, hosted by the Editorial Department of Confucius Studies, with thetheme of the integration and interaction of Confucianism and modern disciplines. Professor Wang Xuedian, dean of the Advanced Institute for Confucian Studies at Shandong University and editor-in-chief of Confucius Studies, attended the symposiumand delivered a concluding speech.Kong Deli,deputy CPCsecretary, dean, and researchfellowatChina Confucius Research Institute, as well as deputy editor-in-chief of Confucius Studies, gave a welcome address. Professor Xu Qingwen, the vice director of the Advanced Institute of Confucian Studies at Shandong Universityand executive deputy editor-in-chiefof Confucius Studies, presided over the opening ceremony and the exchange and discussion session.

Professor Ren Feng from the School of International Studies at Renmin University of China, Professor Chen Jinsong from the School of Sociology at Renmin University of China, Professor Shen Shunfu from Advanced Institute for Confucian Studies at Shandong University，Professor Wang Jue from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Xi 'an Jiaotong University, and ResearchFellow Xing Shuguang from the Institute of Ethics at Sichuan Normal University, among others, participated in the dialogue and discussion. The scholars re-examined the interactive relationship between Confucianism and modern social sciences from perspectives such as political science, law, ethics, sociology, and literary theory, providing wisdom for promoting the transformation of Confucian thought research from the traditional Confucian classics paradigm to the social science paradigm.
